Devon FFA Event at Castle Drogo
9th - 10th April 2011
Over 1800 visitors attended the Country Fayre weekend 9th-10th April at the National Trust property of Castle Drogo on the northern edge of Dartmoor.
This was an event to celebrate the centenary of its foundation and the Devon FFA was asked to be involved in a display of Ford and Fordson tractors in a wonderful setting and with perfect weather.
A range of models were on display and the oldest and nearest in age to a centenary was a 1920 Fordson F from Phil Semmens from Penzance in Cornwall who is in the process of completely restoring his tractor whilst still attending shows and events.
It was a great effort on his part and he was the most travelled participant. A couple of very tidy working County’s and well restored Dextas contributed to the impressive display of tractors. All the owners and drivers made the most of the weekend which included the opportunity to tour the Castle and the lovely gardens & grounds.
Thank you to all those who attended & also the FFA members without tractors who just called in to say " Hello "

At their inaugural meeting, it was decided by the FFA Devon members to increase their profile at the County Shows during the summer. The next event is the Devon County Show at Westpoint near Exeter on 19th to 21st May.
It is intended to try & get all the Ford & Fordson tractors and members together in the vintage class to create a good show to help promote the Ford & Fordson Association and its activities. Other local shows follow on and support and entries for these events would be appreciated.
A new website for our Devon members is being set up to provide information and news on a local basis. This can be accessed at www.ffadevon.co.uk
